The Worst "Hymn" of All-Time
I was reading an article on "First Things" not too long ago about the ten worst hymns of all time. Of course, the usual suspects such as "Here I Am, Lord" and "On Eagles Wings" made the list, and each song had a video. However, it was peculia
r that the number one song on the list did not have a video and was apparently so horrid that it has been removed from most modern hymnals (yes, even from OCP).
So I decided to go down to the very depths of bad church music Hades to look for this song....and I found it and realized just how ridiculous of a time the 60s and 70s were and the how harmful the effects of psychadelic drugs were to the soul as well as the human mind and body. This song is so bad that it had aliases (that's right the inanimate song tried to get by with a fake name).
And so here it is: From 1966, by James Theimm published by F.E.L. Publications, here's "Sons of God (Hear His Holy Word)" a.k.a. "Child of God", "Child of God Hear His Holy Word", "Saints of God", and "Folks of God"
*LISTENER'S WARNING: Listening to this song may be hazardous for you and your spirit.
