Now what?

So I walk into work this morning, with a co-worker, and a manager. Typical Saturday at the workplace, right? Computer's not running, nothing new, it's happened before. However by day's end, my co-worker had quit, my boss, had quit, and I had been minding the store most of the day with a busted computer. Am I upset, I know the reason why they quit, and I don't blame them, I'd quit if I got the news they got too (it's a good thing). However, the experience let me observe human beings at their finest: when they want things instantly.

I was able to observe at its rawest, patience, understanding, as well as those who were impatient, restless, and just plain snobs. Perhaps those snobs must not realize how stressful work is on the other side of the counter and that the more you act like a pain, the slower things go. So next time you're stuck in a slow moving line because of a cashier, don't pound him for it, trust me he or she is trying to get you in and out as fast as possible. (NOTE: This does not apply to plain obnoxious customers and irrational "let me take as much time as I can even though he already said he has other customers" people who call at the most inopportune times).

How about a prize for peaceful people?

As I'm sure everyone knows by now, the high and mighty paramount leader of the United States and General Secretary of the Democrat Party of America, the enlightened one, Barack Obama has been named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. For what? And honestly, with the exception of Mother Teresa, does anyone honestly take this award seriously when it says it recognizes people who work to bring about peace? Let's take a look at a few of the past winners of the Nobel Peace-of-garbage Prize, shall we:

Jimmy Carter - Humanitarian? How come nobody's talking about how he got Iran in the mess that it currently is in today?

Wangari Mathaai - Supported the theory that white scientists created the HIV virus to get rid of the black population.

Al Gore - Is global warming as big of threat as Mr. Gore presents it to be? After sitting in my car for the past few days waiting for my car to heat up, boy I wish it were true!

Yasser Arafat - Palestinian terrorist who was involved in the 1973 Khartoum assassinations.

Menachim Begin - Israeli terrorist who was involved in the Zionist-led King David Hotel bombing in 1946.

Cordell Hull - Secretary of State under President Franklin D. Roosevelt; helped to convince FDR to refuse the SS St. Louis entrance into the United States, causing many of the passengers on the ship who were fleeing from Nazi Germany to end up in the concentration camps, and ultimately their demise. Not to mention his prior knowledge of Pearl Harbor and his lack of interest to prevent it, if not ignore it.

Woodrow Wilson - the man who began the slippery slope to our economic problems today by helping to create the Federal Reserve. Wilson also deceived the American people about getting involed in World War I by claiming that Germany hit the luxury liner RMS Lusitania which was a threat to our National Security (only to find out later that not only did he let Americans into the line of fire, but also had explosives on board). Not to mention he was a flaming racist.

And now here we are in 2009, and President Obama is your Nobel Peace Prize laureate for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". And yet where are we in the eyes of the world? We are just as hated by the people across the world as anytime in the past twenty years, we are still fighting two unconstitutional wars, as a Nation, we are more divided than ever. And we have a "peace" laureate who can't even keep citizens in the womb safe? Peace? Peace of what?

Do I have a choice?

Let me make it clear: yes I'm a conservative, yes I'm a registered Republican, and yes I would like to see the Republicans back in the majority again in Congress (and God willing, the White House in 2012). That being said, I don't see how the Republican Party can prove to me that they are the viable option to oppose the ruling statist Democrat majority that controls both houses of Congress, the White House, and if we don't do anything about it, our lives.

In the twelve years that the GOP held Congress (six of which complemented a Republican White House), the Republicans in Congress and the Bush White House focused too much on two unconstitutional wars and not enough on the costs that Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as friendships with rogue nations, leaving them wide open for attacks from Democrats who accused them of not caring about the economy and workers. The Democrats were right when they accused the GOP of this: that the party of restricted spending and small government began spending like socialists. However, the Democrats weren't the option because their solution to socialism-lite, was hardline socialism.

So here we are in 2009. The Democratic controlled Congress has a 66% disapproval rating. But do the Republicans have to offer besides saying that they're not Democrats? The GOP needs to take a lesson from one of their own: Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). Rep. Paul is a conservative in its purest definition: anti-war, anti-state, pro-liberty. Talk about reducing spending, talk about cutting costs, but also start talking about eliminating unnecessary government programs, sharply reducing the size of government, which are harming our economy. Talk economic sense, and then get the job done.

Then, I will place my complete trust with the Republican Party again. (Well, maybe not. But it'll make me feel better about them.)

Show me the...GOLD!!!

Go figure, once again the dollar is once again losing its value, but it paved the way for gold to reach a new record high at $1048.43 an ounce. That point being made, will someone please tell me why are we still using paper money? I think it goes beyond printing money, though my point compliments printing the argument against printing more paper currency. As long as we have trees and recycle paper, the value of paper money will continue to decrease, as there is an endless possibility of printing paper through the cutting down of trees (hint, hint environmentalists).

The only way to go is gold. The value increases as it becomes more rare. And because gold is gold and can't be made out of another factor like paper, the inability to duplicate the resource makes it difficult, if not impossible, for government to regulate it. But that's just my thinking, who asks me anything?

Money talks

Earlier today, it was reported that so far Governor Jon Corzine has outspent Chris Christie by $11.4 million. And the number will keep growing. Of the $16.8 million that Corzine has spent on radio and TV ads, newspaper ads, etc., $15.6 million were from his own pocket.

With that kind of cash, you would wonder if Mr. Corzine would force himself to pay for the same higher taxes he wants for the rest of the upper class that he belongs to. HMMM...

The New Jersey Electorate: the October Guinea Pig

When I got up this morning, I do what I always do after saying my prayers: I check the news. News hasn't been great lately, so why should today be any different? Well, when I looked at my emails, I got a message saying that according to the latest Farleigh Dickinson poll, Jon Corzine has taken a one point lead over Chris Christie, 38%-37%.

As someone who endorsed Americans for Prosperity NJ Senior Policy Director and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, I have come to support Christie, a former U.S. attorney, not because I know his positions as clearly as I did Mayor Lonegan, but I'm fed up with New Jersey politics and want it shaken up, via the dethronement of Jon Corzine.

I didn't put my hope in Chris Christie, I know better than that. Rather, I put my faith in the people of New Jersey. I honestly believe that the people of New Jersey are good and honest citizens that want the best for each other. However, I find that the ballot box seems to be the kryptonite to the Superman-like goodness of the people of New Jersey. People are fed up with Trenton, I know. And yet, we keep putting the same clowns back in office. Why? I understand that there isn't much of a choice this year. Corzine is still a lying thief who wants to destroy our economy and drive more people out of the state. However, Christie has yet to offer a clear solution to our problems.

My thing is, we know what kind of baggage Jon Corzine carries with him. Why risk it again when you can get a candidate who is, face it, more conservative than him. We need change, and that means changing governors. With the election less than a month away, we will see if the people of New Jersey are willing to bring reform to Trenton or fall into the same trap that got them into this predicament in the first place.

The choice is yours.

UPDATE: According to a recent poll by Rasmussen, Christie leads 47%-44%.

And...we're off

The title says it all. I put this up to talk about the Catholic religion, politics, Philly sports, or whatever's on my mind. For those who want me to be fair and balanced, I'll tell you right now, I'm going to be biased in my opinion and tell you exactly how I feel. Enjoy the ride...
