When I got up this morning, I do what I always do after saying my prayers: I check the news. News hasn't been great lately, so why should today be any different? Well, when I looked at my emails, I got a message saying that according to the latest Farleigh Dickinson poll, Jon Corzine has taken a one point lead over Chris Christie, 38%-37%.
As someone who endorsed Americans for Prosperity NJ Senior Policy Director and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, I have come to support Christie, a former U.S. attorney, not because I know his positions as clearly as I did Mayor Lonegan, but I'm fed up with New Jersey politics and want it shaken up, via the dethronement of Jon Corzine.
I didn't put my hope in Chris Christie, I know better than that. Rather, I put my faith in the people of New Jersey. I honestly believe that the people of New Jersey are good and honest citizens that want the best for each other. However, I find that the ballot box seems to be the kryptonite to the Superman-like goodness of the people of New Jersey. People are fed up with Trenton, I know. And yet, we keep putting the same clowns back in office. Why? I understand that there isn't much of a choice this year. Corzine is still a lying thief who wants to destroy our economy and drive more people out of the state. However, Christie has yet to offer a clear solution to our problems.
My thing is, we know what kind of baggage Jon Corzine carries with him. Why risk it again when you can get a candidate who is, face it, more conservative than him. We need change, and that means changing governors. With the election less than a month away, we will see if the people of New Jersey are willing to bring reform to Trenton or fall into the same trap that got them into this predicament in the first place.
The choice is yours.
UPDATE: According to a recent poll by Rasmussen, Christie leads 47%-44%.
